The MLL gene is chosen based on the following criteria: (1) it is located at 11q23 [42], a commonly deleted site in NPC [9]; (2) it is commonly translocated in leukaemia [43] and (3) expression of the Epstein-Barr virus latent membrane protein 1 (LMP1) gene induces cleavage of the MLL gene [16]. Here, KMT2A is linked to nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
