ELK1 and myeloid leukemia: BATF, IRF4 and IRF8 show GM12878-specific expression; TEAD4 and NANOG, genes that play a central role in embryonic stem cells [25], are specifically expressed in H1-hESC along with ELK1; HNF4A, a gene necessary for liver development [26], is specifically expressed in HepG2, a hepatocellular carcinoma cell line; and finally GATA1, which is involved in myeloid development [27], and MYB are specifically expressed in K562, a myelogenous leukemia cell line.
