TXN2 and Miyoshi myopathy: Based on observations that indicate MM tumor cells produce more mitochondrial oxidants, have a more oxidized mitochondrial environment and have no respiratory reserve capacity (Fig 1B and 1F), which are all common properties of human tumor cells, we conclude that the toxicity of TS and GV are enhanced in MM tumor cells by constitutively higher demand for detoxification of H2O2 by the TR2-TRX2-PRX3 antioxidant network.
