This phenomenon of an endosomal membrane protein localized in nuclear fractions is not unique to LMTK2. For example, FAM21, a WASH complex subunit residing in early endosome membrane like LMTK2 has been shown to undergo nuclear translocation and participate in NF-kB-depenent gene regulation in pancreatic cancer cells [48, 49]. The gene discussed is LMTK2; the disease is familial pancreatic carcinoma.
