The patients with melanoma in comparison with the reference group had significantly higher median concentrations of VEGF (399 vs. 94 pg/ml; p = 000.1), MMP-9 (741 vs. 415 ng/ml; p < 0.001), TIMP-1 (161 vs. 116 ng/ml; p < 0.001), and YKL-40 (59 vs. 43 ng/ml; p = 0.001). This evidence concerns the gene CHI3L1 and melanoma.
