As shown in Figure 5(d), compared with the control, exposure of RPMI 8226 cells to carfilzomib (40 nM) and LBH589 (4 nM) for 24 h markedly decreased the level of ERK1/2 phosphorylation without obvious changes in the total ERK levels, suggesting that the ERK1/2 pathway, protecting MM cells from apoptosis, was effectively inhibited by the combined treatment.
