According to the “NHLBI Workshop on the Primary Prevention of Chronic Lung Disease”, there are three kind of intervention to be tested in clinical trial now or in the future: preventing asthma through prophilaxis against respiratory syncytial viruses and human rhinovirus infections of the airways; immune modulation, using prebiotics, probiotics and bacterial lysates; and prevention of allergen sensitization and allergic inflammation using anti-IgE [29].
