When CRP was added to the analyses in Table 2b and d leptin levels were still significantly related to ischemic heart disease in men while CRP was not (leptin: p = 0.005, CRP: p = 0.96), however, neither of these markers were independently related with ischemic heart disease incidence in the corresponding analyses in women (leptin: p = 0.68, CRP: p = 0.25).
