SCARB1 and atherosclerosis: Deficiency of the scavenger receptor class B type I (SR-BI) in mice is significantly associated with abnormal lipoprotein composition (especially LDL-cholesterol [LDL-C] and HDL-cholesterol [HDL-C]) and accelerated atherosclerosis in the background of ApoE-/- or ldlr-/-, among other phenotypic changes [1–5].
