In a cohort of 30 patients with ovarian cancer, 30 patients with benign ovarian disease and 30 healthy controls, methylation of RASSF1A, CACLA, and EP300 combined differentiated between patients with ovarian cancer and healthy controls with 90% sensitivity and 87% specificity, while methylation of RASSF1A and PGR differentiated between patients with ovarian cancer and patients with benign ovarian disease with 80.0% sensitivity and 73.3% specificity (Liggett et al., 2011). This evidence concerns the gene EP300 and ovarian carcinoma.
