Our results suggest that the specific upregulation in aging cells of type I J-proteins or Thioredoxins, in combination with Hsp110 and Hsc70 (Mattoo et al., 2013) could be of important therapeutic potential to combat ROS-mediated stress and inflammation-induced onset of proteotoxicity in degenerative diseases. This evidence concerns the gene HSPA8 and neurodegenerative disease.
