AFP and hepatoid adenocarcinoma: Microscopically, hepatoid carcinoma is composed of cords of polygonal cells with abundant, eosinophilic cytoplasm and centrally located nuclei in the sheet-like or trabecular portions, occasionally featuring bile production and/or bile canaliculi formation, and together with elevated serum levels of AFP in most reported cases but not in all [3, 5, 15, 28, 35].
