FGF9 and neoplasm: Strikingly, we find that FGF9 is highly expressed in the epithelium of Type I PPBs in humans and in mouse embryonic lung epithelium that conditionally lack Dicer1. These studies thus identify FGF9 as a developmentally essential downstream target of epithelial DICER1-cleaved miRNAs during lung development and as a candidate “tumor promoting factor” for PPB.
