An experiment was performed to evaluate the effects of EGCG, a chief constituent of green tea on the HER3 RTK and on COX-2 expression in the SW837 human colon cancer cell line and results showed that treatment of SW837 colon cancer cells with 20 μg/mL of EGCG caused decrease in the phosphorylated forms of EGFR, HER2, and HER3 within 6 hours of treatment [53]. This evidence concerns the gene ERBB2 and malignant colon neoplasm.
