In the present study, we examined the effect of carrier status of HLA-B and-DRB1 alleles on FMF by the comparison of the frequencies between patients and non-disease control individuals by employing the probands of FMF pedigree and sporadic FMF cases who were captured by our previous national surveillance study.[6] HLA effects on clinical forms of FMF, subsets of FMF with certain MEFV genotypes and poor responders to colchicine treatment were also evaluated. Here, HLA-DRB1 is linked to familial Mediterranean fever.
