The most well-known profibrogenic mediators expressed by activated HSCs include transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β) and platelet-derived growth factor, whereas hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) functions as an anti-fibrogenic mediator [9, 10] Although the effects of HGF in reducing the accumulation of ECM and the development of hepatic fibrosis have been investigated extensively, the exact mechanism regulating HGF expression in HSCs in response to liver injury and inflammation remains unknown. Here, HGF is linked to Hepatic fibrosis.
