In order to assess the involvement of multiple factors in the 3 years risk of death for dialyzed patients with DM, a multiple, backward conditional (stepwise, acceptance threshold p<0.1, exclusion threshold p>0.2) Cox proportional hazards model was built, having the following co-factors: age, dialysis duration, BMI, Hemoglobin, serum albumin concentration, 25-OH vitamin D levels, the presence of associated co-morbidities (DM, stroke, CAD and PVD) and infection with any of the B and C hepatic viruses.
