Before it was identified as a CaCC in 2008 [6,16,17], Ano1 (also known as ORAOV2, DOG1, TAOS2, and FLJ10261) is found to be overexpressed in many cancers such as esophageal squamous cell cancer, gastrointestinal stromal tumor, and head and neck squamous cell carcinoma [18,19,20,21]. The gene discussed is ANO1; the disease is cancer.
