In colon cancer, the most frequent mutations in K-Ras are guanine to adenine transitions and guanine to thymine-conversion with 90% of the somatic point mutations occurring at hotspot codon 12 (G12D, 70%) or 13 (G13D, 30%) in exon 1 [9-11].
