BAALC and acute myeloid leukemia: The prognostic significance of BAALC gene was first shown in CN-AML with association with significant higher refractoriness to induction treatment, lower rates of complete remission (CR), poor overall survival (OS) and disease free survival (DFS) for patients with high BAALC expression independent of other prognostic molecular markers with a gene expression signature consistent with less differentiated AML blasts.6–8
