After controlling for mite IgE, the association between asthma and Ascaris IgE was lost (Ascaris IgE, 0.71–3.5 vs. ≤0.7 kU/l – OR 0.43, 95% CI 0.13–1.41, p = 0.164; >3.5 vs. ≤0.7 – OR 0.39, 95% CI 0.11–1.38, p = 0.143), while the risk of acute asthma remained strongly positive for mite IgE (OR 1.05, 95% CI 1.02–1.07, p < 0.001). This evidence concerns the gene IGHE and asthma.
