G6PD and steatosis: We have actually found that the steatosis in the livers of the untreated OVX was associated with higher production of mitochondrial ROS and the characteristic signs of oxidative stress, including lower mitochondrial and cellular GSH, increased MDA levels, and reduced activity of the antioxidant enzymes GPx, G6PD, and mitochondrial GR, also confirming our previous work [3, 4].
