These findings are consistent with those obtained in the model of lithium/pilocarpine-induced status epilepticus in rats, where authors found reduced neuronal loss, decreased activation of microglia and astrocytes in the hippocampus and lower expression of interleukin-1 β (IL-1β) and tumour necrosis factor α (TNFα) at 4 days post-status epilepticus following FTY720 treatment [26].
