In LNCaP prostate cancer cells, reduced expression of SAM68 altered the expression of an important subset of genes involved in proliferation and apoptosis, including Bcl2L1, Clusterin, cdk2, cdk3, p16INK4, cyclin D1, Par-4, EGF and IGF-1 [21]. This evidence concerns the gene CDKN2A and prostate carcinoma.
