Previous analysis of the role of nuclear factor‐kappa B (NF‐κB) in both epithelial and infiltrating myeloid cells during a murine model of colitis‐associated CRC revealed that activation of this inflammatory transcription factor in the two different cell types drives carcinogenesis through distinct mechanisms, involving stimulation of proinflammatory cytokines by infiltrating myeloid cells and prevention of intestinal epithelial cell (IEC) death with tumorigenic potential 39. Here, NFKB1 is linked to colorectal carcinoma.
