A ROS/p-JNK-dependent mechanism is implicated in CH-induced sternohyoid dysfunction but it is important to note that antioxidant supplementation did not prevent the CH-induced decrease in p-JNK (or p-ERK1/2), whereas antioxidants prevented sternohyoid redox stress and contractile dysfunction following CH exposure. The gene discussed is MAPK3; the disease is cyclic hematopoiesis.
