Recent studies have shown that several SNPs of CNTNAP2 are biological high-risk markers in ASD, epilepsy, mental retardation, schizophrenia, and cognitive impairment (Friedman et al., 2008; Stein et al., 2011; Li and Bartlett, 2012; Clemm Von Hohenberg et al., 2013; Ji et al., 2013; Sampath et al., 2013). This evidence concerns the gene CNTNAP2 and epilepsy.
