Among the genes analyzed was BLLF1, an envelop glycoprotein [25] associated with infection of B lymphocytes that has been shown to be mediated by binding of the N-terminal region of the BLLF1 viral glycoprotein to its receptor, CD21, which also serves as the lymphocyte receptor for the C3d molecule, a member of the complement cascade [26].
