Different studies have pinpointed the parallelisms between mouse and human colorectal cancer at epigenetic level [33,72,79] and many of the genes we have found hypermethylated in early stages of mouse tumorigenesis (i.e., Lgr5, Axin2 and En1) may have potential clinical applications in human cancer [71,80,81]. The gene discussed is LGR5; the disease is cancer.
