In the younger male group (<65 y/o), we found that TIMP1 rs4898 minor allele was associated with hypertension risk (OR = 2.16, 95% CI 1.24 to 3.76, P = 0.006) and MMP9 rs3787268 minor allele had a borderline protection from DM risk (OR = 0.5, 95% CI 0.26 to 0.98, P = 0.04). This evidence concerns the gene MMP9 and hypertensive disorder.
