PDLIM7 and nasopharyngeal carcinoma: Consequently, a number of studies have shown the involvement of LMP1 in the pathogenesis of NPC [16,17], which involves the following factors: 1) an inhibition of apoptosis in the infected cells by the upregulation of Bcl-2 and A-20 genes [13,15,18]; 2) a modulation of the morphology and motility of epithelial cells [19]; 3) a downregulation of several suppressors for metastases [20]; 4) a promotion of angiogenesis [21]; and 5) an induction of the expression of proinflammatory cytokines, among other mechanisms [22,23].
