Ibáñez et al. found a significant overlap between genes (e.g., PIN1, Wnt pathway, p53 pathway, and pathways related to protein folding and folding degradation) upregulated in CNS disorders (i.e., Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and schizophrenia) and genes downregulated in cancer (i.e., lung, prostate, and colorectal cancers) and vice versa (Ibáñez et al., 2014). The gene discussed is PIN1; the disease is early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
