Interestingly, in the case of pro-inflammatory cytokines Il-1b, Il-6, and Il-12b as well as anti-inflammatory Il-10, their mRNA levels were significantly higher (1.65x for Il-1b, P < 0.05; 2.75x for Il-6, P < 0.05; 3.06x for Il-12b, P < 0.05; 3.21x for Il-10, P < 0.05) after infection of murine cells by parental S. Enteritidis in comparison to non-fimbriated S. Enteritidis fimH::kan mutant strain. This evidence concerns the gene IL6 and infection.
