MMP7 and lung cancer: Our results indicate that fibulin-5 functions as an inhibitor of Wnt/β-catenin signaling in lung cancer, as indicated by the strong association of loss of fibulin-5 expression and accumulation of β-catenin, MMP-7 and c-Myc in lung tumors (Fig. 2), and suppression of the Wnt pathway components by fibulin-5 in NSCLC cells (Figs. 3–5).
