FGFR3-TACC3 or FGFR3-BAI1AP2L1 gene fusions can serve as the drivers of oncogenesis in bladder cancer cells, especially in non-muscle invasive bladder cancers, as they activate numerous downstream signaling pathways, including PI3K-Akt-mTOR, Ras, MAP kinases, STATs, and phospholipase-Cγ [65]. Here, FGFR3 is linked to urinary bladder carcinoma.
