The gene encoding KRT17, which promotes epithelial cell proliferation as well as a TH1/TH17 response [38], had significantly increased transcript levels at the site of infection at Days 1 and 4 post-challenge (LFC 1.76 and 1.39, respectively), and Krt16 was highly expressed at the site of infection at all three time points, with LFCs greater than 5.
