Screening 20 polyphenol fractions in terms of their anti-oxidant capacity, and ability to inhibit cell viability, cell survival, DNA fragmentation, apoptosis, functional activation of NFκB, transcription/translation of key (Bcl2, PDGFA, AKT, kRAS, EGFR, VEGF, TERT, FGF) oncogenes and tumor progression molecules in genetically diverse PC cells identified three polyphenols (ethyl acetate fractions of Hormophysa triquerta HT, Spatoglossum asperum SA, Padina tetrastromatica PT) with superior anti-tumor activity. The gene discussed is AKT1; the disease is neoplasm.
