In the transformed but non-tumourigenic BEAS-2B bronchial epithelial cells, we predicted a lower NUMB exon 11 inclusion to exclusion ratio, based on the previously reported observations that the ratio of NUMB exon 11 inclusion to exon 11 exclusion is higher in lung cancer than in normal cells [19] and our hypothesis that the RBM10v1(V354del) isoform is more prevalent in cancer cells. The gene discussed is NUMB; the disease is lung carcinoma.
