We postulated that the bioactive compounds found in ginger and honey are responsible for inducing apoptosis through activation of apoptosis proteins (BAX, BAD and caspases 3,7, 8 and 9) and inactivation of anti-apoptotic proteins ( BCL-2 and Bcl-xL) as reported by other researchers in KB oral cancer cells, Jurkat T-lymphoma cells, HepG2 cells, p53 hepatoma mutant cells, colon cancer and breast cancer cells [24,40-46]. The gene discussed is CASP3; the disease is lip and oral cavity carcinoma.
