CD4 and anemia (phenotype): In multivariable analysis, time-updated moderate anaemia (adjusted IRR = 3.8 [95%CI, 3.0-4.8]) and severe anaemia (adjusted IRR = 8.2 [5.3-12.7]) were the strongest independent predictors of incident TB, although increasing age, time-updated CD4 cell counts, HIV viral load and a past medical history of TB were also independently associated with incident TB.
