In univariable analysis, five risk factors on admission were associated with PCR-confirmed recrudescence by day 28: being under 5 years compared to ≥12 years of age, high baseline parasitemia, baseline anemia (Hb < 10 g/dl), and being treated with either loose NFDC-25 or loose NFDC-30 (compared to FDC). Here, GSTM1 is linked to parasitic infectious disease.
