PODXL and embryonal carcinoma: Podocalyxin (also known as PCLP1, MEP21, gp135, TRA-1-60, TRA-1-81 and GCTM2) is a CD34-related sialomucin and a well-known marker of embryonic stem cells, embryonal carcinomas, neoplastic hematopoietic cells [3-6] and a variety of normal cells during embryonic development, where it plays a key role in tissue morphogenesis [7-9].
