Previous studies indicated a role for IGFBP7 as tumour suppressor in several solid malignancies including melanoma, hepatocellular carcinoma, thyroid, breast, bladder and colon cancer by either direct induction of apoptosis and/or inhibition of tumour growth by deregulation of p16, p21, p53 and ERK signaling [19,26,35-38]. The gene discussed is IGFBP7; the disease is neoplasm.
