The tNTS contains two NLS regions (a.a. 82–88; 111–121) [14,18,19], as well as an exportin-1 (CRM-1) recognised nuclear export sequence (NES a.a. 97–105) which is inhibited by specific phosphorylation of threonine 108 in cancer cells [15,16,18,20]. This evidence concerns the gene XPO1 and cancer.
