Our large case-control association study of 5 independent VAMP1 polymorphisms in 4,667 Alzheimer’s disease patients and 6,175 controls revealed that the odds ratio for Alzheimer’s disease susceptibility was significantly higher for VAMP1 polymorphisms associated with increased VAMP1 transcript expression than for those with decreased VAMP1 transcript expression (p = 0.03). The gene discussed is VAMP1; the disease is Alzheimer disease.
