In order to determine whether variants that control VAMP1 expression are associated with altered susceptibility to late-onset Alzheimer’s disease, we genotyped the 5 VAMP1 polymorphisms in our large case-control series (Table 1B) of Caucasian European descent from the Mayo Clinic, National Cell Repository for Alzheimer’s disease (NCRAD) and Norway (n = 8,144) and utilized the genotypes available for 2 of the polymorphisms from the Alzheimer’s Research United Kingdom (ARUK) consortium case-control series (n = 2,698). This evidence concerns the gene VAMP1 and early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
