The cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) biomarkers Aβ1-42, t-tau and p-tau have a characteristic pattern in Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) (AD profile: low levels of Aβ1-42 and high levels of t-and p-tau [1,2]) and may be associated with the cognitive changes seen in people with HIV-associated neurocognitive disorder (HAND). This evidence concerns the gene MAPT and Alzheimer disease.
