Owing to its unique effects on the initiation and progression of atherosclerosis [18,19], Lp-PLA2 has been recognized as a novel and promising biomarker for cardiovascular diseases risk evaluation, and data from clinical and basic research also showed that Lp-PLA2 decrease was beneficial for retarding atherosclerosis progression and reducing cardiovascular events [10,20]. The gene discussed is PLA2G7; the disease is cardiovascular disorder.
