The median pre- and post-transplantation values for the pro-MMP-2 contents of the CSF from the CG and TG were similar to the average value (43.12 ± 13.90) determined by Melo et al. [29] in healthy dogs that were used as controls in a study conducted recently to evaluate the expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9 in the CSF and serum of dogs with neurological signs and visceral leishmaniasis. The gene discussed is MMP9; the disease is visceral leishmaniasis.
