Similar to the previous studies done in North West Ethiopia [18], Ghana [19], Jimma [20], Addis Ababa [22], and Northeastern Nigeria [16], the prevalence of anemia was significantly associated with lower CD4+ T cell levels but different from a study in West Africa [23] where CD4+ T cell count was not significant predictor of anemia. The gene discussed is CD4; the disease is anemia (phenotype).
