In the present study induced expression of several glycolytic enzymes was observed, most notable [1] pyruvate kinase 3 that catalyzes the transfer of a phosphate group from phosphoenolpyruvate to ADP and was shown to be a target of mi-RNA122 in HCC [2,74] aldolase, an enzyme that converts fructose 1,6-bisphosphate into dihydroxyacetone phosphate (DHAP) and glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate and was reported to be a sensitive marker for benign and malignant liver disease [75] and [3] alpha glucosidase 2, a hydrolase that cleaves glycosidic bonds with the release of alpha glucose from carbohydrates. This evidence concerns the gene HK1 and hepatocellular carcinoma.
